AHA Classes Non-AHA Mi Approved Classes CPR Overview
ABOUT ME: I was a basic certified EMT in 1984 and became a CPR instructor in 1986 with the American Heart Association and later with the American Red Cross. I taught co-workers at the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. I also did classes for the Lanse Creuse Adult education program. I had also trained many to become CPR Instructors. Approximately 9 years later I took a break from being an instructor to spend more time focusing on my family. However I attended the CPR classes every two years. After I retired I became an instructor again in 2015 with the American Heart Association and the American Health & Safety Institute.
The CPR manikins I use are Prestan Professional. The adult manikins meet the 2019 American Heart Association guidelines. I also have a special choking manikin I use so students get the proper feel of how to place their hands for abdominal thrusts to save a person with a severe airway obstruction.
If you need a certification card make sure you sign up for the correct class. Some organizations only accept specific certification cards check with your organization.
If you just want to rush through class to get your card please find another instructor.
The approx length of class depends on the number of students and their ability to perform high quality CPR.
